Ilustrador y muralista estadounidense. Criado en una granja, aprendió dibujo e ilustración en Boston, antes de estudiar con el maestro ilustrador Howard Pyle (
n. 1853–m. 1911). Sus primeros logros fueron con la representación del Oeste norteamericano. Durante su carrera ilustró más de 100 libros con sus memorables dibujos, entre ellos, una famosa serie de clásicos infantiles que comprende
La isla del tesoro,
Raptado,
El rey Arturo,
Robin Hood y
La flecha negra. También pintó numerosos murales en edificios públicos. Fue profesor de su hijo, el pintor Andrew Wyeth.
